The InterContinental Marseille – Hotel Dieu is committed to a virtuous approach to eco-responsibility via the IHG Green Engage<\/a> tool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IHG Green Engage is a system used by all hotels in the group, enabling us every day to measure and optimize energy and water consumption, reduce waste and improve our impact on the environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our hotel is therefore accredited the highest level of the program (level 4), and since several years has been taking numerous other ecological measures:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Natur’Act Charter<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

First initiative to mobilize economic players in favor of restoring biodiversity and adapting to climate change in the Marseille Provence area. The hotel is delighted to have signed the Natur’Act<\/a> charter in October 2019, the beginning of a sincere commitment to nature!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Green Key Label<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We’re delighted to be awarded the green key label<\/a>, thanks to the hard work of our teams. This is the first international sustainable tourism label for tourist accommodation and catering, and our hotel was the first establishment in Marseille to receive this distinction in 2021. Since then, we have successfully passed the audit every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Waste sorting and recovery<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

InterContinental Marseille – Hotel Dieu sorts and recycles its waste: batteries, oils, glass, paper\u2026 but that’s not all! In collaboration with the Alchemists, we have set up a collection program, making good use of our food waste, turning into compost wich the Alchemists then use to regenerate the soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Battling food waste<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our chefs are committed to fighting food waste through several actions: the use of food products from A to Z, or by raising awareness among our teams and the general public via participation in events like the anti-gaspi fair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pure Ocean<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Pure Ocean<\/a>‘s mission is to support applied research projects at the cutting edge of innovation, in order to increase knowledge of the ocean and contribute to the fight against global warming, while preserving marine biodiversity and protecting and restoring fragile marine ecosystems. We have created the blue cocktail at the brasserie, where \u20ac2 is donated to the association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lights out on the fa\u00e7ade<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In response to the city’s appeal for energy efficiency, the InterContinental Marseille – Hotel Dieu has been committed to nightly switching off its light of the fa\u00e7ade at midnight since September 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This new eco-friendly gesture allows us to switch off 300 LEDs and avoid emitting 80kg of CO\u00b2 per month!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Towards a hotel without single-use plastic<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

InterContinental Marseille – Hotel Dieu was supported by BeMed<\/a> association to move away from single-use plastics. As a result, the range of hygiene products in the bathrooms has been reviewed, the courtesy tray has been revamped and single-use water bottles are gradually disappearing from the hotel. If you have children, a welcome kit is available for them at the reception – without plastic, of course!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our commitment to local associations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The hotel is committed to a number of local associations, such as La Croix Rouge du Panier, for whom we have organized toy and food collections, and Le Carillon, an association that helps the homeless, with whom we organize awareness-raising workshops and to whom we give financial donations. The hotel also organizes charity events with Les Restos du C\u0153ur, the Ligue Contre le Cancer foundation and Graine de Tournesol. These are actions that are close to our hearts, bringing together different worlds for a good cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
