The perfect stay

Marseille is brimming with treasures to explore: the Old Port and its boats, the MuCEM and the J4, the Calanques and their turquoise coves, the Cours Julien market, Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde… Our concierge team guides you towards the finest experiences, including at the hotel’s own restaurant Les Fenêtres.

Day 1

Morning

Begin your day with breakfast on the terrace of our brasserie, Les Fenêtres, while admiring the majestic Notre-Dame de la Garde — the beloved guardian of our city, affectionately nicknamed the “Bonne Mère”. All your senses will awaken before this breathtaking view, as the sun rises over the Old Port, while you savour a delicious breakfast buffet.

Continue your morning with a guided walking tour through the oldest neighbourhood in Marseille: Le Panier. Its colourful streets are filled with hidden treasures: street art, local boutiques and restaurants, the Vieille Charité with its remarkable monastic architecture, and the imposing Cathédrale de la Major. Every alleyway tells a story, a way of life or a local speciality, just waiting to be discovered alongside our passionate guides!

Lunch

Time for a well-deserved break at the Old Port! After exploring the Panier neighbourhood, make your way down to the harbour to take in the view, enjoy the lapping of the water, the clinking of masts and the lively atmosphere of the city. End your stroll at the very heart of the Old Port, passing through the traditional fish market under the Ombrière, then continue to the Cours d’Estienne d’Orves. This charming pedestrian square, lined with restaurants, is the perfect place to savour local specialities.

Afternoon

Just a short distance away, near the Hôtel de Ville, you can board the Petit Train, which will take you directly up to Notre-Dame de la Garde. From there, you will enjoy the most spectacular panorama in Marseille from its highest point.

Dinner

Marseille is home to exceptional restaurants, whether Michelin-starred, gastronomic or bistro-style. This is the moment to savour a cuisine that combines authenticity, harmony and refinement. The city’s starred chefs will delight you, proving that dishes based on the finest seafood can satisfy even the most discerning palates.

Day 2

Morning

This morning begins with a remarkable cultural experience: a visit to the Grotte Cosquer, a fascinating and unique reproduction spanning 1,750 square metres. Right opposite, the MuCEM (Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations) will impress you with its exhibitions and its striking cubic architecture, designed by the celebrated Rudy Ricciotti. The morning ends with a visit to Fort Saint-Jean, a historic monument deeply rooted in Marseille’s heritage.

Lunch

The setting lends itself perfectly to lunch at the top of the MuCEM or Fort Saint-Jean. From there, you can watch the endless comings and goings of boats in the port while savouring generous local cuisine.

Afternoon

Walk back to the heart of the Old Port to board a boat towards the Calanques National Park or the Château d’If, made famous by The Count of Monte-Cristo. Each excursion has its own charm: one reveals breathtakingly beautiful wild and protected coves, while the other is steeped in history.

Apéritif

A sacred ritual for any true Marseillais. The apéritif is a time for sharing — raising a glass to loved ones, laughing, talking loudly and nibbling on panisses (Marseille’s beloved chickpea fritters) while feeling the gentle warmth of the setting sun on your skin. If at all possible, we strongly recommend enjoying this well-deserved pause at the Vallon des Auffes, a charming little fishing harbour not to be missed under any circumstances!

Dinner

It goes without saying that dinner will take place at one of the wonderful restaurants of the Vallon des Auffes. There is something for every taste, from the most refined and gastronomic to the most local and flavourful.

Day 3

This final day continues off the beaten track: head out to discover the Côte Bleue! Take the Côte Bleue train from Gare Saint-Charles in the direction of Miramas, then stop at the village of Sausset-les-Pins. Stroll along the Corniche, enjoying the sunshine and this unspoilt stretch of coastline. Then stop at the small fishing harbour of Sausset for an oursinade: an incredibly authentic and convivial experience featuring quality seafood and sea urchins.

On the way back (by train again), don’t hesitate to stop at the L’Estaque neighbourhood, a source of inspiration for famous painters such as Paul Cézanne, Georges Braque and Auguste Renoir. There, you can enjoy chichis Frégis (sweet fried doughnuts) while admiring the colours of the sunset reflecting on the boats.

Dinner

To round off this day of exploration in style, enjoy dinner in one of the Bubbles of the InterContinental Marseille Hôtel-Dieu, set up on the terrace of the Capian Bar with views of Notre-Dame de la Garde. Discover a unique alpine landscape of illuminated fir trees and an original cable car gondola — a suspended, warm and enchanting moment, perfect for winter evenings.
